Club Softball Explodes For 47 Runs While Going 3-0 Against Oakland

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Adrian College club softball team traveled to Oakland University for a tripleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs scored 15 or more runs in each of the three games, going 3-0 on the day.

In game one Adrian jumped on Oakland early, putting a 12-run spot in the top of the first inning. Oakland tried to inch back into the game with one run in the second inning, two runs in the third inning, and a run in the fourth inning. It was not enough as Adrian scored one run in the top of the sixth and two more runs in the top of the seventh to seal away their 15-4 victory.

Kayla Doney, Allie Bell, and Kaitlyn Snead all totaled two hits for the Bulldogs. Bell led with five RBI's and a stolen base. Hailey Holmes earned the win allowing 10 hits and recording six strikeouts.

Game two ended a lot closer than the first game. Adrian once again jumped on Oakland early with a five-run first inning. Oakland scored one-run in each of the first four innings as Adrian totaled six more runs by the end of the fourth. An 11-4 Adrian lead started to look scary after Oakland totaled nine runs between the fifth and sixth innings. Adrian answered in the top of the seventh to tie the game up at 13, sending the game into extra innings. A Lyta Glombowski double and a Bell single scored three for Adrian in the top of the eighth inning as the Bulldogs allowed one run in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the extra-inning win, 16-4.

Glombowski ended the game going 6-6 with five RBI's and three runs scored. Emily Gilroy added five hits of her own as Elizabeth Grady totaled four hits as well. Adrian totaled eight doubles as a team as Taylor Campbell and Holmes were on the mound in game two.

Game three was all Adrian. Each team rallied and scored a couple runs each through the first three innings as Adrian held a 4-2 lead. The Bulldogs scored 13 unanswered runs throughout the next four innings ending the game winning, 16-2 and ending the day going 3-0!

Seven Bulldogs totaled at least two hits in this game as Snead, Glombowski, and Grady each had three of their own. Jocelyn Schuster led all hitters with four RBI's and two stolen bases. Grady got the win in game three allowing six hits and striking out two.

Adrian will host Siena Heights on Tuesday, April 16 at 5 & 7 PM for their next two contests!
