Baseball Ends 33-Win Season in NCAA Super Regional

ASHLAND, Va. – The Adrian College baseball team forced a doubleheader on day two of the NCAA Super Regionals against Randolph-Macon College. The Bulldogs came away with a 5-4 win on a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth in game two of the Super Regional before falling 9-6 in game three of the Super Regional.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 (Game 2 of Super Regional)
  • Randolph-Macon struck first on an RBI double in the fourth inning to lead 1-0.
  • In the sixth, Easton Rogers put the Bulldogs on the board with a 3-run homer off the scoreboard in left center field.
  • Randolph-Macon made it 3-2 in the seventh inning before taking a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth.
  • The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth, and with two outs, AJ Miranda reached on a dropped fly ball by the Yellow Jacket right fielder which scored a pair and ended the game with a 5-4 Bulldog victory.
  • Jaxon Clark was a star on the mound for Adrian as he threw 6.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts. Luc St. Antoine and Ryan Davis pitched in relief before Lincoln Lipinski came in to limit the damage in the ninth and pick up his fourth win of the year.
  • Adrian totaled seven hits as a team with three coming from Davis.
GAME 2 (Game 3 of Super Regional)
  • Randolph-Macon came out hot to start the game by scoring one run in the first and five in the second to jump out to a 6-0 lead.
  • Easton Rogers drove in the first Bulldog run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single.
  • Adrian added another run in the fourth on an RBI ground out from Nic Bruder before adding another in the fifth on an RBI single by Rogers to make it 6-3.
  • Randolph-Macon added in the seventh on a pair of doubles to lead Adrian, 9-3.
  • Adrian didn't go away easy as they put up three runs in the bottom of the ninth. AJ Miranda started the inning with a solo home run which was later followed by a 2-RBI double from Rogers. The rally fell short and the season came to an end in the NCAA Super Regionals.
  • Rogers led the team on offense with a 4-for-5 performance with four RBIs. Miranda and Kedrow each added three hits in the effort.
UP NEXT
The Adrian College baseball season comes to an end with the Bulldogs finishing the year with a 33-16 record, an MIAA Tournament Championship, and a NCAA Regional Championship. The Bulldogs will return next season where they will look to make another run to the NCAA Tournament.
