ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team hosted Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference contest. The Bulldogs struggled defensively leading to costly errors and the Lions to take advantage as they fell, 6-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adrian grabbed a pair of runs early in the first inning. Jakob Charles drove in a run on an RBI triple followed by an RBI single from AJ Miranda to lead 2-0.
- Penn State responded in the second scoring a pair of unearned runs on two Adrian errors.
- The Bulldogs reclaimed the lead, 3-2, in the second inning on an RBI single from Nic Bruder.
- Penn State scored two in the sixth and two in the seventh to jump out to a 6-3 lead.
- The Bulldogs battled in the ninth inning scoring two runs. Bruder hit an RBI groundout followed by a run scoring on a Penn State error. The Bulldogs had the winning run standing on first base with two on, but grounded out to end the game and lose 6-5.
- AJ Miranda had three hits for Adrian as the Bulldogs struggled at the plate totaling six hits as a team.
- Ben Bates started for Adrian where he threw three innings. Tripp Russo picked up the loss in relief.
