ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team faced off against Indiana Tech in a home-and-home series this week, kicking off the 2024-25 season. The Bulldogs tied the Warriors at home on Thursday night, but managed to pull out an overtime win on the road on Friday. Before Thursday's contest, the WD1 Bulldogs held a ceremony to commemorate the historic 2024 ACHA National Championship team, raising the championship banner to the Arrington Ice Arena rafters.
The Bulldogs and Warriors battled back and forth on Thursday night, but regulation and overtime solved nothing, resulting in a 3-3 tie.
Kali Foerster,
Tess McKerrow, and
Rhea Peterson provided the offense for Adrian, while fifth-year goaltender,
Amanda Storey, made 19 saves in her first game with the Bulldogs.
The two teams met in Fort Wayne on Friday afternoon to close the series, jarring back and forth once again in a tight defensive game. The Bulldogs and Warriors ended regulation tied 1-1, but this time the Bulldogs mustered a way to win as Foerster buried the game-winner in the extra frame, securing the 2-1 win.
Tyla Turnbull provided the first goal for Adrian, while McKerrow collected two assists in the victory. Fifth-year goalie,
Rieley Jessie-Gerelli, made 27 saves in her first win as a Bulldog.
The WD1 Bulldogs will gear up for a three-game set at home next weekend, hosting McKendree on Friday, October 4 and conference opponent Lake Superior on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6. Puck drops at 3:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 4:00 PM respectively at the Arrington Ice Arena.
