ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team finished its series with Purdue University Northwest with a 6-0 blanking of the Pride at the Arrington Ice Arena on Sunday after dropping game one of the series on the road earlier in the week.
Adrian struggled in game one in Indiana on Thursday night, being out-shot by the Pride 51-31 and failing to erase the deficit throughout the contest. The Pride tallied three consecutive times to open the game on Thursday, and Adrian answered back off goals from
Gabe Vijuk and
Greg Obrycki, but it just wasn't enough as Purdue Northwest added one more goal and held on for the 4-2 win. Adrian goaltender,
Alexander Herman, was solid in between the pipes, making 47 saves.
After a two-day hiatus, the Bulldogs and Pride met at the AIA on Sunday afternoon to wrap the series where it was all Adrian in a spirited revenge-seeking contest. Adrian was no match for Purdue Northwest as they scored six unanswered goals in the game to secure the 6-0 shutout victory.
Griffin Clark,
Jack Kraemer,
Jack Waldo,
Braeden Gray,
Michael Tucker, and
Shaun Potts provided the scoring and helped Herman secure his 5th win and 1st shutout of the season as he stopped all 36 shots that came his way.
The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team will prepare for a three-game weekend next week with a battle against Northern Michigan and two against Central Michigan. Thursday's contest against NMU will be at the Arrington Ice Arena at 7:30 PM, followed by Saturday's contest against CMU in Mount Pleasant at 7:30 PM and Sunday's contest against CMU at 4:00 PM at the Arrington Ice Arena. The Bulldogs will also honor the Senior Class of 2025 before Sunday's game.
Jack Waldo stopped by for an interview after today's win to discuss the victory and his beautiful tally to aid the Bulldogs' effort.
