WD1 Hockey Recognize Senior Class of 2025; Split Series with Michigan-Dearborn

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 2 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team split its series with No. 9 University of Michigan-Dearborn after two overtime games on the weekend. The Bulldogs captured the 3-2 overtime win in game one on the road on Friday, before dropping game two at home on Saturday, 3-2, in overtime as well.

Before Saturday night's contest at the Arrington Ice Arena, the Bulldogs honored their Senior Class of 2025 with a pre-game ceremony. Seniors Allison Shaw, Keira Eagleson, Rhea Peterson, Makenzie Villiard, Tess McKerrow, Hailey Wiltshire, Gianna Miranda, Neleh Wood, and Taylor Gregan gathered with their families to reflect on their Bulldog careers and all of their respective accomplishments. The veteran group was a key part in bringing the program their first ACHA National Championship last season.

To begin the series, the Bulldogs and Wolverines met at the Deaborn Fieldhouse on Friday evening in a close CCWHA conference matchup, which saw the Bulldogs come back from a 2-goal deficit to force overtime. An extra frame tally from Genessie Williams decided the contest and gave Adrian the opening win. Wood and Shaw provided the first two tallies in the game, while goaltender Amanda Storey made 23 saves, backstopping her team to the win.

Dating back to their previous meetings last season, Adrian had now collected six straight wins over the Wolverines, including two earlier this season. Adrian and rival Michigan-Dearborn met again on Saturday night to close the series, marking the fourth contest of the year between the two teams. In another tight battle, both teams managed to score twice through regulation, forcing another sudden death overtime frame. Wood and Peterson scored during regulation for Adrian, but it was UM-D who found the winner this time around, solving Storey in the extra frame to collect the 3-2 win. Storey stopped 25 of 28 shots in the defeat.

The WD1 Bulldogs move to 19-3-3 on the year and 8-0 in conference play and will move on to a busy 4-game weekend. The Bulldogs will host No. 7 Indiana Tech University on Thursday, January 30 and then head to Fort Wayne on Friday, January 31 for a two-game CCWHA set. The Bulldogs and Warriors have met twice already back at the beginning of the season, with games ending in a 3-3 tie and a 2-1 OT win for Adrian. After that, Adrian will take on No. 10 University of Michigan on Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2 in another CCWHA home-and-home clash.
