ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team went 2-1 during a three-game weekend, falling to Northern Michigan and defeating Central Michigan twice. The Bulldogs also honored their lone Senior from the Class of 2025 before Sunday's contest at the Arrington Ice Arena.
Ondrej Benda was honored ahead of puck drop on Sunday in a Senior Day ceremony, recognizing his hard work, dedication, and achievements as a Bulldog.
The action began on Thursday night at the AIA when Adrian hosted non-ranked Northern Michigan University. Though out-shooting their opponent 61-13, Adrian couldn't solve NMU as the road team managed to squeeze out an upsetting 3-2 victory. The Bulldogs received goals from freshmen
Gabe Vijuk and
Jack Waldo in the loss.
Alexander Herman made 10 saves in goal for Adrian.
Twenty-four hours later, the Bulldogs hit the road to battle Central Michigan in the first of a two-game set. Adrian managed to dominate for the entire sixty minutes, scoring 11 goals and allowing zero, clinching the commanding shutout victory.
Jack Kraemer tallied a whopping five goals in the contest to lead the way for his team, while Herman bounced back with a 23-save shutout to earn the win in goal.
After a day off, the Bulldogs returned to action on Sunday at home to host the Chippewas and honor their lone Bulldog Senior. Another dominant performance saw the Bulldogs tack on another ten goals, grabbing a 10-1 home win. Waldo and
Michael Tucker potted two goals of their own, while
Gabe Arteaga scored his first ACHA goal to highlight the sweep. Goaltender
Petr Sup, stopped 13 of 14 shots for his second win of the season.
The MD2 Bulldogs will prepare for a spirited battle with rival Trine University next weekend. The Bulldogs and Thunder will meet in Adrian on Saturday at 11:00 AM and then in Angola on Sunday at 2:30 PM.
