ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Division I NCBA baseball team hosted Bowling Green State University on Saturday at Nicolay Field for a doubleheader. The Bulldogs came away with a two-game sweep, winning game one 10-7 and edging out a 5-4 victory in game two.
Bowling Green struck first in the top of the first inning, but Adrian quickly responded with an RBI double from Jesse Leyva. The Falcons added three more runs in the second, but the Bulldogs answered again with a two-run single from Brock Hudik, followed by a go-ahead RBI triple by Tyler Hall in the third to give Adrian a 5-4 lead.
The Bulldogs extended their lead in the fifth inning, plating four runs, and added another insurance run in the sixth to make it 10-4. Bowling Green mounted a late rally with three runs in the seventh, but Adrian held on for the win. Hudik, Isaac Jurmu, and Damon Harriss each collected two hits, with Hudik leading the way offensively with four RBIs.
Michael Hale earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out eight. Cameron Wakefield came in to secure the save.
In game two, Bowling Green again opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first, but the Bulldogs responded with three in the bottom half. Leyva delivered a two-RBI single and later scored to give Adrian the early lead. The Falcons regained a 4-3 advantage in the fourth, but Harriss tied the game with an RBI fielder's choice, and Christian Resacher scored the go-ahead run in the fifth to make it 5-4.
Connor Reneau got the start for Adrian, going four innings and allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out four. Colton Hicks closed out the game in relief, allowing just one hit over three innings and striking out five to earn the win.
The Bulldogs return to action October 24–26 with a five-game stretch, taking on Central Michigan on the road for a three-game series and then returning home to host Eastern Michigan for two games.
