ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA Division III baseball team hosted the University of Michigan–Flint on Saturday for a doubleheader. The Bulldogs' offense stayed red-hot, taking game one 13-5 before cruising to a 19-1 victory in game two.
In the opener, UM–Flint struck first with a run in the top of the first inning, but Adrian quickly answered with three runs in the second. The Bulldogs added one in the fourth and exploded for seven in the fifth before tacking on two more in the seventh to seal the win. UM–Flint managed single runs in the third and fifth innings, along with two in the sixth.
Dakota Clift led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Nate Linder added a 2-for-4 effort, while Gage Hreben drove in three runs, highlighted by a triple. Joshua Cornett earned the win on the mound after throwing three innings and allowing two runs on one hit. Tate Wyse provided three innings of relief, and Adam Lashaway closed out the game.
The Bulldogs' bats stayed hot in game two, scoring in every inning. Adrian plated one in the first, four in both the second and third, six in the fourth, and four in the fifth to enforce the mercy rule in a 19-1 victory. The Bulldogs collected 10 hits and capitalized on nine UM–Flint errors. Lashaway led the charge, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs and four runs scored. Cornett added two hits, while Landon Agosta and Stephan Anderson each crossed the plate three times.
Linder picked up the win in game two, tossing a five-inning complete game with nine strikeouts while allowing just one run on two hits.
With the sweep, Adrian improves to 4-0 in conference play and will wrap up the fall season on Saturday, October 25, when they host Oakland University for a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
