ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Women's ACHA Divison 1 hockey team swept this weekend as the Bulldogs headed to Eastern Michigan Friday night, with an 4-1 win. Saturday night the Bulldogs hosted Eastern Michigan in their home opener as they flew by easily 7-0.
The Bulldogs were led by senior Tyla Turnbull, graduate student Hailey Wiltshire, and junior Sophie Kuzminski as they all tallied three points on the weekend. Both Wiltshire and Kuzminski scored one goal and two assists. Turnbull racking two goals and one assist.Â
The Bulldogs took the early lead in the first period with senior Taylor Robinson and Kuzminski giving Adrian the 2-0 lead. The Eagles attempted to come back with the only second period goal, however that wouldn't be enough for Eastern Michigan as the Bulldogs took back control of the game in the third period. Turnbull and junior Chloe Gregory netted tallies of their own to conclude the game. Senior goaltender Cassidy Dobson faced 26 shots from the Eagles, saving 25 of them.Â
Adrian dominated Saturday afternoon out shooting Eastern Michigan 42-20 along with seven different goal scorers for their seven goals. The Bulldogs took the 3-0 lead in the first period with goals from Wiltshire, senior Ashlynn Stitt, and senior Genessie Williams. Sophomore Nadia Nickel and senior Mya Reyes added to the score sheet in the second period with goals to give the Bulldogs the 5-0 lead after the second period. To close out the game, Turnbull and freshmen Sydney Haggart added goals themselves to give the Bulldogs the 7-0 win. Junior Taylor Kinkade earned herself the win and her first shutout of the season with 20 saves.
Adrian WD1 now sits at a 3-2 overall record and 2-0 conference record. The Bulldogs will keep their energy going as they host Midland University Thursday night for a 7:30pm puck drop and back at it again Friday afternoon at 4:00pm.Â
