DETROIT – On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the MLB Transactions page announced that the Detroit Tigers have claimed Adrian College baseball alumnus Dugan Darnell off waivers.
Darnell, a 2019 Adrian College graduate, made his Major League debut with the Colorado Rockies last season before an injury cut his campaign short. The Northville, Michigan native was selected off waivers by the Pittsburgh Pirates at the end of October before later being claimed by the Tigers.
During his time in the majors, Darnell appeared in nine games, throwing 11.2 innings with a 3.86 ERA. He struck out five batters and earned the win in his MLB debut.
Remarkably, Darnell didn't begin pitching until his senior season at Adrian College. That year, he was dominant on the mound, posting an 0.53 ERA over 17.0 innings in 16 appearances. He recorded six saves, 27 strikeouts, and held opponents to a .056 batting average.
As for his injury recovery, Darnell is expected to be sidelined for approximately eight months and isn't projected to return until May 2026.
