ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team dominated Lake Supieror State University Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena, with a 6-1 win Friday evening and dominating 6-0 before the game came to a halt before the third period due to ice issues. The third period of the game will be resumed Sunday afternoon, as they head up to Lake State Sunday for a game. The third period will be played right before the start of the Sunday game.
Friday evening, the Bulldogs came out strong in the first period going up 2-0. Senior Same Carper opened up the scoring and just over a minute later freshman
Dylan Braun extended their lead to two. With another dominate second period from the Bulldogs they lengthened their lead to five with three more goals. Carper netted his second goal of the night on the powerplay to kick off the second period. Junior
Jack Kraemer capitalized shortly after and just about 30 seconds later Braun tallied himself another goal. The Lakers did find the back of the net right before they headed into intermission. To close out the third period and secure the victory, senior
Griffin Clark found the back of the net. Between the pipes for the Bulldogs was senior
Alexander Herman, making 29 saves on 30 shots on goal from the Lakers.
Before the ice issues on Saturday afternoon, the Bulldogs dominated once again out shooting the Lakers 35-20. The Bulldogs went up 1-0 in the the first period when freshman
Braeden McNamara found the back of the net. Adrian dominated the second period with five goals, starting with Braun netting his third goal of the weekend just 38 seconds into the period. Sophomore
Bazl Cook found in the back of the net shortly after, while
Michael Tucker and
Logan Jent extended the Bulldogs lead. To close out the second period, Kraemer converted on the powerplay to give the Bulldogs the 6-0 lead.
The MD2 Bulldogs team looks to carry this momentum not only into Sunday's third period but a long weekend of games, starting with Sault College on Friday and Saturday at Sault and another full game matchup against Lake Superior State Sunday.
