GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Adrian College men's wrestling team traveled to compete in the annual Messiah-Petrofes Invitational, finishing sixth overall with 91.5 team points.
Adrian Rosas continued his outstanding season in the 125 weight-class, rolling into the finals with two major decisions and two decisions before securing the title with another decision to finish first. In the 141 bracket, Cole Riedel recorded a solid 3-2 outing with wins by fall, major decision, and decision. Kenneth Thomas also finished 3-2 in the division, collecting victories by fall and decision along with a bye. At 149, Landyn Crance posted a 2-2 record with wins by fall and decision, while Blaise Kokkales matched that mark and added wins by tech fall and decision.
At 157, second-ranked wrestler in the nation, Aiden Smith had a flawless 5-0 performance in the tournament, tallying two tech falls, a pin, and a decision to claim first place and score 26.5 team points. Smith was also named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Connor Williams earned an eighth-place finish in the 165 bracket with a 3-2 record, including victories by decision, major decision, and pin.
In the 184 division, Spencer Vos battled his way to a fifth-place finish, going 4-2 with three decision wins and a medical forfeit. The Bulldogs had strong representation in the 285 bracket as Scott Smith finished eighth with a 3-2 record, earning wins by decision, a pin, and a bye. Also competing at heavyweight, Hamza Rafferty posted a 3-2 performance, highlighted by victories in sudden victory and by pin.
Up Next: The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday, December 13 where they will compete in the Berg Holiday Duals at Heidelberg University. The duals will kick off at 9:00 AM.
