HUDSONVILLE, Mich. -- The No. 6 Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team wrapped up the 2024-25 regular season on Friday night after shutting out the Grand Valley State Lakers on the road, 3-0. The Bulldogs collect the sweep over the Lakers, also defeating them on Thursday at home by a 6-2 score.
Going into the weekend, the Bulldogs had already clinched the GL6 regular season championship; the program's ninth conference regular season crown in a row. This week's action was to further strengthen their conference record, in which they did exactly that, staying undefeated throughout the year with a perfect 10-0-0 GL6 record to clinch the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
Action began on Thursday night at the Arrington Ice Arena, where the Bulldogs hosted their annual Military Appreciation Night contest. In front of a heavy crowd, Adrian took care of business in game one, downing the Lakers by four tallies.
Sebastian Smith,
Matthew DiCesare,
David Dell,
Andreas Fleutot,
Dylan Gajewski, and
Alex Schaumburger provided the offense in the win, while
Noah Decottignies turned away 19 of 21 pucks to earn the victory in goal.
The Bulldogs hit the road to Hudsonville on Friday to close the series and regular season. The dominance continued as Adrian piled on a goal in each period and fended off the Lakers in their home barn to grab an impressive 3-0 triumph. Decottignies shut the door 16 times for his 6th shutout and 12th win of the year. Fleutot, DiCesare, and
Hunter Allen found twine for the Bulldogs on Friday, as Adrian out-shot GVSUÂ 67-37 over the two-game GL6 series.
The MD1 Bulldogs finish the regular season with a 27-3-2 overall record along with another immaculate conference record. The team will now prepare to host the inaugural GL6 Conference Playoff Tournament next week at the Arrington Ice Arena. A full preview will release next week on the Adrian College Athletics website.
