ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 hockey team battled with a familiar foe over the weekend, hitting the ice for a two-game home-and-home set with rival Trine University. The Bulldogs dropped game one to the Thunder on Saturday, before getting revenge in game two on Sunday.
The Bulldogs hosted the Thunder for a late morning game at the Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday, but struggled to find a way over the hump, falling to the Thunder by a 5-2 score.
Jack Waldo and
Bazl Cook put pucks into the back of the net for Adrian and
Alexander Herman made 33 saves on 38 shots in the opening loss.
The two teams met again on Sunday, this time at the Thunder Ice Arena in Angola, Indiana. With their sights set on a better performance, the Bulldogs achieved exactly that, coming out on top with a 3-2 victory to even the series. Cook,
Jack Kraemer, and
Brady DesMadryl (GWG) provided the offense in the road win as the defensive core and Herman shut down the Thunder, allowing three less goals than the day before. Herman was stellar in his bounce back game, making 38 saves on 40Â shots.
The MD2 Bulldogs sit 16-6-1 on the year and will next face-off against Ohio University on Wednesday, February 5 in Athens, Ohio at 7:00 PM. The Bulldogs will then return home for a two-game set with Schoolcraft College on February 7 and February 9, beginning on the road in Livonia.
