ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 3 hockey team dropped two close contests to the University of Michigan-Flint over the weekend, losing 3-0 and 2-1.
Adrian opened its weekend on the road in Burton on Friday but had a tough time solving the Wolverines. UM-Flint out-shot Adrian, 50-22, in the game and held the Bulldogs scoreless through regulation.
Ryan Rainey made 47 saves in goal in his Adrian College debut.
The Bulldogs and Wolverines met at the Arrington Ice Arena on Sunday afternoon to conclude the MCHC weekend dual, stringing together another close contest. The Wolverines open the scoring in the middle frame with two quick goals, before Captain
Evan Bliss found twine on a penalty shot to bring it within one. A scoreless third period resulted in a 2-1 final as Adrian couldn't find the equalizer. Rainey stopped 24 of 26 in the Sunday loss, moving the Bulldogs to 1-9 in conference play.
The MD3 Bulldogs will move on to their next game, set to take place on February 8 at Western Michigan. Puck drops at 9:00 PM in Kalamazoo.
