KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 3 hockey team suffered a road loss to Western Michigan University on Saturday night, falling to the Stallions, 4-1, in regulation.
While generating 32 shots on goal, the Bulldogs struggled to find the back of the net, as
Walker Claiborne was the only Bulldog to solve Western's goaltender. His first career ACHA tally came early in the first period off a pass from
Devin Bennett.
Western Michigan carried the remainder of the action in Saturday's contest, scoring once in the second period before adding two more in the third period. Late in the game, the Stallions added an empty-netter to seal the 4-1 win.
It was a busy night for Adrian's backbone,
Rex Goldberg, as he faced a whopping 56 shots in net, turning aside 53 of them in the loss. Saturday marked Goldberg's third game in a row with at least 40 saves.
The MD3 Bulldogs will host the University of Akron next weekend for a two-game home series on February 15-16. The team will honor its Senior Class of 2025 on Saturday before the 3:00 PM puck drop at the Arrington Ice Arena.
