Ashlynn Stitt's Four-Goal Weekend Leads No. 2 WD1 Hockey to Sweep of Michigan State and CCWHA Regular Season Crown

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The No. 2 Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team grabbed a sweep of No. 15 Michigan State University on the weekend, erasing the Spartans 2-0 and 5-3 to wrap up conference regular-season play with an undefeated record of 14-0 and clinch the 2024-25 CCWHA regular season championship.

The Bulldogs were led by the offensive prowess of Junior forward, Ashlynn Stitt, who registered four goals and five points over the two-game home-and-home series. Goaltenders Taylor Kinkade and Olivia Towpich earned the wins in goal for the Bulldogs, who grab some more conference points to stay atop the CCWHA standings and clinch first place heading into the CCWHA Playoffs in two weeks.

Adrian hosted MSU at the Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday evening and held the Spartans to 14 total shots, while peppering the Spartans' goalie with 55 of their own. Mya Reyes and Stitt provided the tallies in the 2-0 shutout victory, giving Kinkade her fifth shutout in as many games this season. Kinkade's remarkable shutout streak this season has lasted a total of 300 minutes and includes 69 total saves.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs traveled to Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing to close their CCWHA agenda with the Spartans. Finishing off strong, the Bulldogs tacked on five goals to the Spartans' three, courtesy of Stitt, who tallied a hat-trick, Chloe Gregory and Taylor Robinson. Towpich stopped 23 of 26 in the fourth win of her freshman campaign.

The WD1 Bulldogs will begin to prepare for a busy three-game week against some tough opponents to conclude the regular season. Adrian will start with a home contest at the AIA against No. 11 Arizona State University on Wednesday, February 12 at 7:00 PM, followed by two road match-ups against No. 1 Liberty University in Virginia on February 14-15. Wednesday's final home game versus ASU will be aired live on 96.5 The Cave. Fans can also attend in person or watch live on Adrian College TV.
