NCBA DI Baseball Rolls Through Western Michigan with Series Sweep on the Road

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA D1 baseball team hit the road for a triple-header against Western Michigan University, sweeping the day with dominant performances. The Bulldogs started strong with an 11-3 victory in Game 1, followed by an 11-1 blowout win in the second game. Adrian capped off the weekend with a 16-3 win in the third game, completing the sweep against the Broncos.

GAME 1

Adrian took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, holding onto that advantage until the bottom of the third when Western Michigan scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead. The Bulldogs responded in the fourth with two runs of their own, then added three more in the fifth. Adrian tacked on three runs in the sixth inning, while the Broncos managed just one, making it an 8-3 game in favor of the Bulldogs. Adrian finished strong with three more runs, securing an 11-3 victory in the first game of the triple-header.

Brock Hudik led the way, scoring four runs on four hits and one walk, along with one RBI. Connor Davies and Jesse Leyva each scored two runs, and Tyler Hall contributed with one run, four hits, and a team-high three RBIs.

GAME 2

Similar to the first game, Adrian jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the first inning to Western Michigan's one. After a scoreless second and third innings, the Bulldogs added three more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth, finishing the game with an 11-1 blowout victory in six innings.

Brock Hudik and Tyler Hall again led the charge, each scoring two runs off two hits. Andrew Walker and Luke Pope each scored one run, drove in two RBIs, and had one hit apiece.

GAME 3

The Bulldogs continued their strong play, jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Western Michigan responded with one run in the second. After a scoreless third and fourth innings, Adrian broke the game open with four runs in the fifth, while the Broncos added two runs. The Bulldogs poured it on in the sixth, adding six more runs, and capped it off with four runs in the seventh, sealing a 16-3 blowout win to complete the weekend sweep.

Brock Hudik, Isaac Jurmu, and Corwin Allen each scored three runs in the game. Jurmu also drove in two RBIs. Joe Postma had a standout performance, scoring two runs on two hits and one walk, while driving in three RBIs. Damon Harriss added one run on one hit and also contributed three RBIs in the win.

The Bulldogs are currently slated to host Oakland University on Sunday, March 30 starting at 2:00 PM.
