ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team hosted Alma College on Saturday for a doubleheader in the MIAA Conference. After falling in the first game of the series on Thursday, the Bulldogs aimed to bounce back and secure the series with a doubleheader sweep. Adrian took game one in seven innings, 18-7, and followed up with a 9-3 victory in game two, improving to 2-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Game One

The Bulldogs came out strong, scoring seven runs in the first inning. David Kedrow started the scoring with an RBI single, followed by a three-run home run from Easton Rogers. Linken Hayward drove in a run with a triple, then Philip Vilardo knocked in an RBI double, and Jack Boike capped the inning with an RBI single.

Alma responded in the second with a solo home run, but Adrian quickly extended their lead with three more runs in the third. Hayward and Boike each contributed with RBI singles, while Nic Bruder added a sacrifice fly.

Alma made it a 10-5 game by scoring two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.

In the bottom of the fifth, Adrian pushed the lead to 15-5. Ryan Davis delivered a 2-RBI double, followed by a 2-RBI single from Kedrow and an RBI double from Rogers.

The Bulldogs added three more runs in the sixth on singles from Bruder, Aiden Melvin, and Andrew Clouse.

Alma tried to mount a late rally in the seventh, scoring two runs, but fell short of extending the game, and the mercy rule was applied.

Boike, Davis, Kedrow, Rogers, Jake Burns, and Hayward all recorded multi-hit games. Rogers led the Bulldogs with four RBIs, while Kedrow had three.

Landon Kozlowski earned the start, tossing 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits, with three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Game Two

Adrian took control early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. Kedrow drove in the first two runs with a 2-RBI single, followed by Davis scoring on a wild pitch, and Burns added an RBI single to give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 5-0 in the fifth with a sacrifice fly from Kedrow.

Adrian added three more runs in the sixth. Davis hit an RBI double, and Kedrow followed with a 2-RBI single to put the Bulldogs up 8-0.

Alma got on the board in the top of the eighth, scoring their first run to make it 8-1.

The Bulldogs answered with another run in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to an RBI single from Davis.

Alma managed a two-out rally late in the game, scoring two runs to make it 9-3.

Davis led the Bulldogs in game two with three hits, while Kedrow, Rogers, and Cam Oliver each recorded two. Kedrow finished with five RBIs.

Ambrose Horwath got the start on the mound, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing five hits. Griffin Firestine earned the win in relief, tossing four innings, giving up three runs on six hits, and striking out three.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, April 2, when they host Trine University for the first game of their MIAA conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
