WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- The Adrian College softball team wrapped up their final day in Florida with a 4-0 win over Husson University and a 7-0 win over Clark University. Macce Shang had a dominant performance in the circle, followed by Abbi Patton in the second and final game.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
The Bulldogs wasted no time jumping ahead in the bottom of the first inning, as Maggie Leveille blasted a home run to give Adrian a 2-0 lead after one. Later in the game, Ava Wolfe extended the Bulldogs' advantage with a line drive up the middle that scored Leveille, who had singled earlier in the inning. That gave Adrian a 3-0 lead after three innings.
Meghan Lupu added another run in the sixth, driving in Genna Marasco with a ground ball to second base to make it 4-0.
That was more than enough for Macce Schang, who was dominant in the circle. Schang threw a complete-game shutout, coming within a hit of a no-hitter. She surrendered a weak hit in the top of the seventh, finishing the game with eight strikeouts and allowing just two hits. Schang earned her third win of the season, solidifying her strong performance in the circle.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2Â
The Bulldogs got on the board early in the second inning when Genna Marasco crossed the plate after Hailey DeChlak's single, giving Adrian a 1-0 lead. In the fourth, Ava Wolfe laid down a perfectly executed bunt that led to an error, allowing Makenzi Johnson to fly around the bases and score from first, extending the lead to 2-0. Later in the inning, Taylor Gerhardt crushed a shot into the gap for an inside-the-park home run, driving in Meghan Lupu and Marasco along the way, and increasing the Bulldogs' lead to 5-0.
Peyton Russell capped the scoring in the top of the seventh with a two-run bomb, pushing Adrian's lead to 7-0 and closing out their final game in Florida in style.
On the mound, Abbi Patton delivered an absolute gem. She threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits while striking out seven and issuing zero walks. The veteran senior was dominant throughout, earning her second win of the season with a truly masterful performance.
Adrian wraps up their games in Florida with a 7-3 record and will be back in action on Friday, March 14 where they will travel to Elizabethtown, Kentucky for a six game series against multiple teams. Their first game is against Central College at 10:00 AM.
