GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Adrian College baseball team rebounded in its second game of the trip to North Carolina, defeating Montclair State 8-2. The Bulldogs spread out their scoring across the game and kept Montclair off the scoreboard until the ninth inning, when it was too late for a comeback. With the win, Adrian improves to 5-5 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bulldogs struck first, as David Kedrow singled in a run in the top of the first inning.
- In the second inning, Adrian extended its lead with an RBI groundout by Jake Burns and a sacrifice fly from Daniel Shipman, making it 3-0.
- In the fourth inning, Burns added another RBI with a double to increase the lead further.
- In the eighth, Linken Hayward delivered a 3-run homer to put the Bulldogs ahead 7-0.
- Kedrow provided an additional insurance run in the eighth, doubling to right field to give Adrian an 8-0 lead.
- Montclair State's only offense came in the bottom of the ninth, when they hit a 2-run homer, but it was not enough to mount a comeback.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
- Easton Rogers had another strong performance for the Bulldogs, collecting three hits and scoring two runs.
- Hayward also contributed offensively, finishing with three hits and three runs scored.
- On the mound, Landon Kozlowski earned the win, tossing five shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out three. Daniel Gutierrez picked up a save with four innings of relief.
