Club Baseball Takes One of Three at Home Against Tough Notre Dame over the Weekend

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA D1 baseball team faced off against the team from Notre Dame at their home Nicolay Field this weekend for a double-header on Saturday and one on Sunday with the Fighting Irish. Despite hard efforts from the squad, the Bulldogs would drop the series 2-1. They would lose 3-0 in the first game, bounce back in game two for a 7-3 win, and fall short in the third and final matchup of the day, 4-9.

GAME 1
First-game jitters would strike for the Bulldogs in this one, in what would be a scoreless matchup for them. The turning point for Notre Dame in this one came in the third inning, where they would score all 3 of their runs for the 3-0 game one victory. At the mound, Joe Postma would be the highlight for the Bulldogs, pitching six innings for seven strikeouts.

GAME 2
To begin game two, Adrian would start off hot with back-to-back runs in the first two innings and jump out to a 2-0 lead. Notre Dame wouldn't let themselves get out of this one, bouncing back for runs in both the third and fifth innings to tie it up at 2-2. The Bulldogs would explode for five runs in the sixth inning. In the comeback attempt for the Fighting Irish, only one run would be scored in the seventh, making this an emphatic 7-3 Bulldogs bounce-back victory. Brock Hudik stars in this one, adding a game-high two runs off of two hits while also driving in one RBI. Tyler Hall would also go for three hits, driving in an RBI of his own. Michael Hale would strike out five batters while pitching for six innings.

GAME 3
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, the Fighting Irish would lead for the entirety of the third contest, starting with one run in the third and three more runs in the fourth inning for an early 4-0 lead. Adrian would add one run in the following inning to cut the deficit to 4-1 after five innings. In the seventh inning, Notre Dame would score another four runs. Despite Adrian's three runs in the eighth inning, the Fighting Irish would add one more run to the scoreboard, for a final score of 9-4 to close out this weekend's triple-header. Connor Davies would score one run off of two hits, driving in one RBI. Brock Hudik would also drive in one RBI off of one hit and three walks.
