NCAA Softball Earn Win over Hope to Open MIAA Tournament; Will Play Trine Tomorrow

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Adrian College NCAA Softball team earned a 3-1 win over Hope College to kick off the 2025 MIAA Softball Tournament on Wednesday, advancing to play Trine University tomorrow morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the third inning thanks to RBI singles from Taylor Gerhardt and Abbie Hoff, which scored Alaina Craig and Gerhardt.
  • One inning later, Craig knocked a RBI double to right field, scoring Karsyn Malinich to give the Bulldogs the 3-0 lead.
  • Hope scored their lone run in the fifth inning off a RBI infield single.
  • Macee Schang started on the mound for Adrian, tossing 5 stellar innings, giving up 6 hits and earning the victory.
  • Abbi Patton come on in relief to earn the save, throwing 2 innings while only surrendering one hit.
The No. 2 seed Bulldogs advance to take on the No. 1 seed Trine Thunder tomorrow in Angola in second round tournament action. First pitch goes at 11:00 AM.
