ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College ACHA Men's Division 1 hockey team opened its 2025–26 season with a dominant two-game sweep of Trine University last week. The Bulldogs started the campaign 2-0, shutting out Trine 9-0 on the road Thursday before cruising to a 12-0 win in their home opener Friday.
On Thursday night, Adrian jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period with goals from Hunter Allen, Brandon Nye, and Matteo Turrin. The Bulldogs continued to pile on in the second, as Allen added two more goals for a hat trick, while Marc-Antoine Belzile and Caleb Minns also found the back of the net. Keegan DeCaluwe and Eli Reimer each scored in the third to seal the 9-0 victory.
Goaltender Dylan Eliason recorded the shutout, stopping all 10 shots he faced.
In Friday's home opener, the offensive explosion continued. First-period goals from Justin Jamer, Cash Regan, Turrin, and Sebastian Smith gave Adrian a 4-0 advantage. Reimer and Smith added second-period tallies, and Dylan Gajewski scored on the power play to make it 7-0 heading into the third.
The Bulldogs poured it on in the final frame, with Turrin, Jamer, and Regan each netting their second goals of the night. Smith completed his hat trick, and Luke Marley capped off the scoring with a goal in the final minute, securing the 12-0 shutout.
Jamer added three assists to his two goals for a five-point night, while Ethan McLaughlin also tallied three assists. Reimer, Gajewski, and DeCaluwe each contributed two assists. Peyton Trzaska earned the shutout in goal, making 11 saves.
The MD1 Bulldogs return to action September 25–26 with a two-game home series against Northwood University. Thursday's contest will be AYHA/Lenawee United Night with puck drop set for 7:30 PM, while Friday's game will start at 7:05 PM.
