CANTON, Ohio – The No. 20 Adrian College baseball team improved to 2-0 on the season Saturday with a 10-2 road win over RV University of Mount Union.
Edward Bieniasz delivered a dominant performance on the mound to lead the Bulldogs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cam Oliver opened the scoring with a leadoff home run in the first inning to give Adrian a 1-0 advantage.
- In the third, Brendan Willadsen drove in a run with a single. A bases-loaded walk to Gabe Jones and a sacrifice fly by Casey Finn extended the lead to 4-0.
- Mount Union scored their only two runs of the game in the fourth inning a two-run homer to make it 4-2.
- Jones responded in the fifth with his first home run in a Bulldog uniform to make it 6-2. Jack Boike added an RBI single, and another run scored on a Mount Union error.
- Jake Burns hit Adrian's seventh home run of the weekend, and his second of the weekend, in the sixth inning to pull ahead 10-2 and later win the game.
TOP DAWGS
- Bieniasz was a start on the mound for the Bulldogs tossing seven innings in his start allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits with eight strikeouts. Ambrose Horwath pitched two innings in relief where he allowed one hit.
- Nic Bruder, Willadsen, Burns, and Jones all finished the game with two hits at the plate lead the Bulldogs to 12 hits as a team. Jones led the team with three RBIs.
