Adrian College Earns Five MIAA Athlete of the Week Honors

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced its Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon, and Adrian College had five honorees recognized. Alysia Townsend and Ian Kramp represented the track and field team, Madeline Turcotte earned honors for women's lacrosse, and Edward Bieniasz and Jake Burns were recognized from the baseball team.

Sophomore Alysia Townsend was named Women's Field Athlete of the Week following a record-breaking performance. She opened the week at the 2026 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, setting a new Adrian program record in the pentathlon with 2,939 points to place fourth. The previous record of 2,704 had stood since 2017. Townsend continued her strong week at the Hillsdale Tune-Up, breaking the school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.23, surpassing the 2019 mark of 26.35. She also posted a personal-best time of 8.01 in the 60-meter dash.

Sophomore Ian Kramp earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors after competing in the heptathlon at the 2026 MIAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Kramp broke Adrian's program record with 4,179 points, finishing third at the conference meet. The previous record of 4,024 had stood since 2018.

Junior midfielder Madeline Turcotte was named Women's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week after leading Adrian to a 20-3 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday. Turcotte collected eight draw controls to help the Bulldogs secure a 16-7 advantage in draw controls. She also scored five goals, added three assists, and recorded two caused turnovers. Turcotte currently leads the MIAA with 2.50 assists per game and 9.00 draw controls per game.

Senior pitcher Edward Bieniasz earned Pitcher of the Week honors after guiding the Bulldogs to a 10-2 win at University of Mount Union on Saturday. He threw 7.0 innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run without issuing a walk while striking out eight.

Sophomore Jake Burns was named Position Player of the Week after helping Adrian to back-to-back wins — a 15-9 victory at SUNY Brockport and the 10-2 win at Mount Union. In 11 at-bats across the two contests, Burns recorded four hits, including two home runs, with two RBIs, four runs scored, and one walk while batting .363.
