ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College ACHA Men's Division I hockey team honored its senior class on Thursday night while opening a two-game series against the University of Toledo. The Bulldogs capped the weekend with a dominant sweep of the Rockets, earning a 12-1 victory at home on Thursday before closing the series with an 8-0 road win on Friday.
On Thursday, Cash Regan and Nathaniel Mott scored first-period goals to give Adrian an early 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs erupted for five goals in the second period as Dylan Gajewski netted a pair, while Justin Jamer, Caleb Minns, and Matteo Turrin also found the back of the net. Toledo scored once in the period, but Adrian carried a 7-1 advantage into the third.
The Bulldogs added five more goals in the final frame. Mott and Jamer each recorded their second goals of the game, followed by tallies from Blake Wideman, Brandon Nye, and Luke Marley to seal the 12-1 win.
Ethan McLaughlin led all skaters with six assists, while Sebastian Smith and Carter McLeod each posted three assists. Dylan Eliason earned the win in goal, stopping 20 shots.
In Friday night's series finale, Wideman and Mott scored in the first period to put Adrian ahead early. Smith and McLeod extended the lead with second-period goals, making it 4-0. The Bulldogs continued the offensive surge in the third as Jamer, Marley, and McLaughlin scored, while Smith added his second goal of the game to complete the 8-0 shutout.
Keegan DeCaluwe led Adrian with three assists, while Eli Reimer added two. Peyton Trzaska secured the victory in net, recording an 18-save shutout.
The Bulldogs return to action on February 12–13 when they host Grand Valley State University for the final GL6 Conference series of the season. Puck drop for the series opener is set for 7:30 p.m. at Arrington Ice Arena.
