ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College WD1 hockey team honored their senior class and earned a 3–1 victory over the University of Michigan on Saturday afternoon, closing out their conference games.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 7:25 of the first period on the power play, as graduate student Hailey Wiltshire recorded her 13th goal of the season with assists from senior Genessie Williams and sophomore Brenna Ward. Adrian held a 1–0 lead after one period while outshooting Michigan 17–5.
Adrian extended its lead early in the second period when Williams scored just 47 seconds in, finishing a feed from Wiltshire and senior Ashlynn Stitt. The Wolverines responded later in the period at the 14:16 mark to pull within one heading into the second intermission.
The Bulldogs added an insurance goal at 13:25 of the third period, with junior Chloe Gregory scoring off an assist from senior Tyla Turnbull to make it 3–1.
Adrian finished the contest with a 34–22 advantage in shots on goal. In goal, graduate student Rieley Jessie-Gerelli earned the win, stopping 21 of 22 shots.
With the Bulldogs closing out their conference games, they finish with an 11-3 conference record, while holding an 18-10-2 overall record heading into their final games of regular season. The WD1 Bulldogs will hit the road to No. 1 and rival Liberty University Friday and Saturday. Puck drop set for 7:30 PM Friday and 1:30 PM Saturday.
