Offense Lights Up the Scoreboard as NCBA D1 Baseball Sweeps Eastern Michigan

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCBA Division I baseball team is coming off an impressive weekend, sweeping a two-game series against Eastern Michigan University. The Bulldogs took game one 12-1 before securing an 11-2 victory in game two to improve to 13-9 on the season.

In the opener, Adrian jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and two more in the second. After Eastern Michigan plated its lone run in the third, the Bulldogs answered with a run of their own before erupting for six runs in the sixth inning to seal the 12-1 win.

Adrian totaled 11 hits in the game, led by Luke Marley with three and Brock Hudik with two. Carson Boike drove in three runs, while Marley added a pair of RBIs. Justin Bland earned the win on the mound, allowing one run on three hits while striking out five over six innings.

In game two, the Bulldogs struck first with a run in the opening inning before breaking the game open with four runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Eastern Michigan responded with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but Adrian answered with a six-run sixth inning to extend the lead to 11-2.

The Bulldogs once again recorded 11 hits, with Isaac Jurmu leading the way with three. Tyler Hall and Connor Reneau each added two hits in the win. Bryan Covel turned in a strong outing on the mound, pitching 7.2 innings while allowing two runs on 12 hits and striking out 10. Cameron Wakefield closed out the game with 1.1 innings of one-hit relief.

Adrian returns to action on Friday, March 31, when it travels to Madonna University for a 2:00 p.m. matchup. The Bulldogs will be back at Nicolay Field on April 10 and April 12 for a three-game series against Purdue.
