CLERMONT, Fla. – The Adrian College NCAA softball team concluded its Spring Break trip on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader. The Bulldogs finish 4-6 on the week after a 7-5 win against Concordia Wisconsin before falling to Carnegie Mellon, 12-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Bulldogs struck first in the top of the first inning win a sacrifice fly from Meghan Kowalyk and an RBI single from Abbie Hoff. Hanna Walker added an RBI single followed by a Concordia Wisconsin error and an RBI double from Kendra Clark to lead 5-0.
- In the bottom of the second, Concordia Wisconsin got on the board after taking advantage of two Adrian errors to make it 5-2.
- Clark responded for the Bulldogs with an RBI single up the middle to pull ahead 6-2.
- The Falcons scratched another run in the third and two in the fourth to make it 6-5.
- In the top of the sixth, Clark drove in another run on her third hit of the game to pull ahead 7-5 and later win the game.
- Clark finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate while Hoff added two hits.
- Avery Clark earned the winning tossing 4.1 innings allowing just one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts. Hoff pitched. 2.2 innings in relief allowing no runs on no hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- Carnegie Mellon jumped out to a big 7-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
- Karsyn Malinich drove in a run in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly before driving in two on a double in the second inning. Kowalyk hit a single which led to an error on the left fielder to make the game 7-4.
- Carnegie Mellon struck again in the fourth inning and extended their lead to 10-4 before making it 12- after a run in the sixth and one in the seventh.
- Taylor Gerhardt and Malinich each finished the game with two hits.
- Kira Stacey pitched six innings in relief allowing five runs on nine hits.

The Bulldogs will fly home to Adrian and resume action on Tuesday, March 10 with a doubleheader at Capital starting at 3:30 PM.
