ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College NCAA softball team hosted Alma College on Wednesday afternoon for a MIAA conference doubleheader. The Bulldogs and Scots split the two-game series with Adrian taking game one 2-1 before Alma grabbed game two 12-4. The Bulldogs move to 12-14 on the season and sit 1-3 in MIAA play.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 1
- The Bulldogs jumped on the board early in the bottom of the first. Abbie Hoff gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with a double to drive in Karsyn Malinich and Taylor Gerhardt.
- Alma's lone run came in the top of the seventh on an RBI single, but the Bulldogs shut down the Scots with runners on base to seal the win.
- Adrian finished the game with three hits including one from Malinich, Hoff, and Ava Wolfe.
- Avery Clark went the distance on the rubber and picked up her sixth win of the year. Clark finished the game with seven innings pitched allowing one run on five hits with 12 strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME 2
- Adrian took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single from Hoff.Â
- Alma responded an led 5-1 after the second inning.Â
- Katherine Bush stole home in the third inning to make it 5-2 while Adrian added two more in the fourth on an RBI triple from Gerhardt and a sacrifice fly from Malinich.
- The Scots scored one in the bottom of the fourth before scoring five in the fifth and two more in the sixth to lead 12-4 and win the game.
- Gerhardt, Inskeep, and Maddisyn Miller led the Bulldogs with two hits each in the game.
- Hoff started on the rubber for Adrian throwing 1.2 innings allowing four runs on four hits with one strikeout.

The Bulldogs are back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Albion College for a conference doubleheader starting at 3:00 PM.
