EASTLAKE, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team faced Endicott College on Saturday evening in the winner's bracket game of its pod at the NCAA Division III College World Series. The No. 7-seeded Bulldogs were unable to slow down the No. 6-seeded Gulls, falling 12-2 at Classic Park. With the loss, Adrian will face elimination for the remainder of the double-elimination tournament.
The Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Jake Burns launched a two-run home run to give Adrian an early 2-0 advantage.
Endicott responded quickly, plating four runs in the top of the third before adding three more in the fourth to take a 7-2 lead. The Gulls continued their offensive surge in the fifth with four additional runs and capped the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth inning to extend the margin to 12-2.
Adrian collected 10 hits in the contest, led by Christian Oliver and Casey Finn with two hits apiece. Logan Klotz and Cam Oliver each recorded hits in the ninth inning as the Bulldogs looked to spark a late rally.
Parker Faris made the start on the mound for Adrian, allowing seven runs on six hits over three innings of work. Ambrose Horwath followed in relief and surrendered three runs in 1.1 innings. Corbin Kozlowski tossed 2.2 innings, allowing two runs, while Cooper Tracy delivered a scoreless eighth inning.
The Bulldogs will now face No. 2-seeded Rowan University in an elimination game on Sunday, May 31. First pitch is scheduled for approximately 3:00 p.m. at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio. Adrian defeated Rowan 10-1 in its opening game of the College World Series on Friday.
