ADA, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team wrapped up its regular season Monday afternoon with a non-conference matchup against Ohio Northern University on the road. The Bulldogs mounted another late comeback attempt but ultimately fell short to the Polar Bears, 9-7. Adrian heads into the MIAA Tournament with a 28-10 overall record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adrian jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run home run from Nic Bruder.
- Ohio Northern responded with four runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to take a 7-2 advantage.
- Christian Oliver cut into the deficit in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly, making it 7-3.
- The Polar Bears added two more runs in the seventh inning to extend their lead to 9-3.
- Adrian rallied in the eighth inning, scoring four runs on a two-RBI single by Bruder and a two-RBI double from Jaxon McGuigan to pull within two, 9-7.
- The Bulldogs were retired in order in the ninth inning, ending the comeback bid.
- Adrian totaled 12 hits on the day, led by Rolando Jimenez with three, while Bruder, McGuigan, and Oliver each added two hits.
