DEFOREST, Wis. – The Adrian College NCBA Division III baseball team captured the District IV Regional title over the weekend in Wisconsin, sweeping the playoff bracket. The No. 1-seeded Bulldogs defeated No. 4 UW-Stevens Point (9-1), No. 2 Winona State (5-4), and No. 4 UW-Stevens Point again in the championship game (4-0). With the title, Adrian advances to the NCBA D3 World Series for the first time since 2018.
Adrian opened the tournament with a 9-1 win over UW-Stevens Point, using a late offensive surge. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the fourth inning, added two in the fifth, and broke the game open with four runs in the sixth. Sam Sipe led the way, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Gage Hreben and Nate Christian each recorded two hits. Christian drove in three runs. Tyler Clement earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing one run on three hits while striking out four.
In game two, Adrian and Winona State each scored in the second inning before the Bulldogs built a 4-1 lead. Winona State responded with three runs in the fourth to tie the game, but Adrian answered in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead at 5-4 and held on for the win. Adam Lashaway, Christian, and Clement each collected two hits. Nate Lindner got the start, allowing four runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts over five innings, while Sipe added two scoreless innings in relief.
Clement returned to the mound in the championship game and delivered a dominant performance, tossing a complete-game shutout in a 4-0 win over UW-Stevens Point. Adrian scored runs in the first and fourth innings before adding two more in the sixth. Lindner, Logan Passeggiato, Hreben, and Christian each tallied a hit. Clement allowed five hits and struck out seven in the seven-inning victory.
The Bulldogs now advance to the NCBA Division III World Series in Butler, Pennsylvania, set for May 15–17 in a double-elimination format. Adrian earned the No. 1 seed and will open play on May 15 at 6:00 p.m. against Lehigh University.
