ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 2 Hockey program has announced its leadership group for the 2026-27 season. Senior forward Michael Tucker (Flushing, Mich.) and junior defenseman Gabe Arteaga (Chicago, Ill.) have been named team captains, while junior defenseman Garrett Freel (South Lyon, Mich.), senior forward Brady DesMadryl (Fraser, Mich.), and graduate student forward Greg Obrycki (Trenton, Mich.) will serve as assistant captains.

After wearing an "A" on his jersey last season, Tucker steps into the role of team captain following three seasons as a key contributor for the Bulldogs. In 62 career games, he has totaled 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points.

"It will be Tucker's first year wearing the 'C' for our team," said head coach Tyler Cataline. "He has shown over the years that he has what it takes to be a leader. Last year he wore the 'A' and learned a lot about earning the respect of the players. I'm really looking forward to watching him lead this season."

Arteaga also moves from assistant captain to team captain after wearing an "A" during the 2025-26 campaign. A steady presence on the Bulldogs' blue line over the past two seasons, he has recorded two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 37 career games.

"Just like Tucker, Gabe wore the 'A' for us last year," Cataline said. "He is one of the smartest hockey players on the ice and has the respect of everyone in our locker room. He's very vocal both on and off the ice."

Freel enters his first leadership role as he begins his junior season. The South Lyon native has appeared in 24 games over his first two years with the Bulldogs, recording four assists from the blue line.

"This will be Garrett's first time wearing a letter for the Bulldogs," Cataline said. "He's someone everyone knows and respects. He'll be the guy who brings the team together and organizes team activities. Garrett is very caring and loyal to this program and always puts the team before himself."

DesMadryl will also wear a letter for the first time in his Bulldog career. Entering his senior season, he has been a consistent offensive contributor, totaling 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points over the past three years.

"Like Garrett, this is Brady's first time wearing a letter on his jersey, and it's well deserved," Cataline said. "He's shown throughout his career that he would do anything for this team. He'll play a big role in getting the guys in the gym and making sure everyone is as committed as he is."

Obrycki returns as an assistant captain after serving in the role the past two seasons. A Supply Chain Management graduate who earned his bachelor's degree in May 2026, he will continue his education while using his fifth year of eligibility. Throughout his Adrian career, Obrycki has excelled both on and off the ice, compiling 24 goals and 32 assists for 56 points in 99 career games.

"Greg has been a captain for this team for the past three years, and his leadership is exactly why he'll continue wearing a letter in his fifth season," Cataline said. "The guys have a tremendous amount of respect for him, and I hope he enjoys his final season here at Adrian."

The Bulldogs and their new leadership group will begin the 2026-27 season on Sept. 18 with a road scrimmage against the University of Michigan-Flint.
