TECUMSEH, Mich. – The Adrian College men's golf team put together a strong two-day performance at the Irish Hills Intercollegiate, winning the tournament with a two-round score of 600.
The Bulldogs entered the final round with a two-stroke lead after shooting a 300 in the opening round. Adrian followed with another 300 on Saturday to finish at 600 and claim the team title, edging Calvin (603) and a three-way tie between Spring Arbor, Kalamazoo, and Albion at 607.
Jack Vogel led the Bulldogs individually, finishing second overall with a one-under-par 143. Vogel opened the tournament with a 73 before firing a two-under-par 70 in the final round. His second-round 70 was one of the top rounds of the tournament.
Carter Klawonn was next for Adrian, finishing tied for eighth with a 150. Klawonn carded rounds of 74 and 76 to finish six-over-par.
Michael Shubeck and Christian Long each finished tied for 23rd with scores of 156. Shubeck posted rounds of 75 and 81, while Long shot 78 in both rounds.
Eli Bowman rounded out Adrian's team lineup, finishing 38th with a 159 after rounds of 83 and 76.
The Bulldogs also had strong performances from their B and C teams. Adrian B finished seventh with a 631, led by Mason Gurney's 151, while Adrian C placed 10th with a 646. Mitchell Stoll led the C team with a 154.
Adrian returns to action as the Bulldogs open MIAA play at Jamboree #1 on September 29 at Zollner Golf Course host by Trine University at 1:00 PM.
