ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College ACHA Men's Division 1 hockey team completed a weekend sweep over the University of Cincinnati, defeating the Bearcats 11-1 on Friday before earning a 7-0 shutout on Saturday.
Adrian opened Friday with a goal from Carson Brown to take a 1-0 lead after the first period. Matteo Turrin, Keegan DeCaluwe, and Blake Wideman added goals in the second as the Bulldogs took a 4-1 advantage into the third.
The Bulldogs put the game away with five goals in the third period. Hunter Allen and Carter Mcleod extended the lead before Noel Englot recorded a natural hat trick to close out the 11-1 victory. DeCaluwe finished with a goal and four assists, while Peyton Trzaska made 33 saves in net. Adrian outshot Cincinnati 55-34.
On Saturday, Adrian jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead behind goals from Blake Hilterman and Mcleod. Turrin, Eli Reimer, and Dylan Gajewski each scored in the second before Vincent Leaf and DeCaluwe finished off the 7-0 victory in the third. DeCaluwe and Mcleod each recorded shorthanded goals.
Turrin led the Bulldogs with three points in Saturday's win, while Dylan Eliason stopped all 27 shots he faced to earn the shutout.
