MARSHALL, Mich. – The Adrian College men's golf team opened its season with a two-day tournament hosted by the University of Olivet. The Bulldogs shot a 319 in the opening round before turning things around on day two with a 293. Adrian finished with a two-round total of 612 to place second in the 16-team field.
Michael Shubeck led the Bulldogs, shooting a 149 over the two rounds. He carded a 74 (+2) on Wednesday before shooting a 75 (+3) on Thursday to finish fifth individually. Christian Long tied for ninth with a 151, while Jack Vogel shot a 153 to tie for 13th. Vogel had the low round of the day for Adrian on Thursday, firing a 70 (-2).
Carter Klawonn finished with a 159 after shooting an 85 in the opening round and a 74 in the second round. Mason Gurney rounded out the Adrian scoring five with a 170, improving from a 91 on Wednesday to a 79 on Thursday.
The Bulldogs also had four individuals compete in the tournament. Haidren Stewart shot a 156 with rounds of 75 and 81, while Eli Bowman carded a 157 with rounds of 79 and 78. Jaden Eggers finished with a 160 after shooting an 83 and 77, while Kris Zawistowski rounded out the Adrian golfers with a 162.
The Bulldogs will have a quick turnaround, heading to Denison University for the Ted Barclay Invitational on Sept. 5-6 at Denison Golf Club.
