Bruce Crosthwaite (Football)

Bruce Crosthwaite was one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of Adrian College. In an era that running the football was paramount, Crosthwaite’s arm was a weapon that teams had to game plan for every week. Crosthwaite made an immediate impact earning First Team All-MIAA and Team MVP Offensive Back honors in 1985. The following year he was elected team captain and once again was Team MVP Offensive Back and Second Team All-MIAA. In 1987 as a senior, Crosthwaite made it back to the First Team All-MIAA list and secured his third Team MVP Offensive Back award. In addition, he was named to the GTE Academic All-American team as a honorable mention.

Crosthwaite held several passing records upon his graduation that stood for nearly 20 years. He currently ranks second all-time in school history in completions (368), passing yards (4,959) and passing touchdowns (45). In his senior season, the Bulldogs compiled a 7-2 record and Crosthwaite passed for 1,407 yards and 10 touchdowns and also rushed for seven more scores.

Crosthwaite earned his bachelor’s degree in 1988 and then went on to earn a master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1995. He is a native of Rochester, Michigan and currently resides in Wheaton, Illinois where he is owner of Blue Nile Media. He and his wife, Julie, have two children – Reagan and Maddie.

Amy Buchanan (Women’s Soccer)

Amy Buchanan was the first superstar in the sport of women’s soccer at Adrian College. Buchanan arrived on campus and during her freshman year was named the team’s MVP. During her sophomore season, Buchanan began to excel even further and was named First Team All-MIAA. In the fall of 1991, she was named Second Team All-MIAA and was looking forward to a great senior season. Her senior season however would be derailed by a knee injury that would force her to medically redshirt in 1992. Buchanan came back as strong as ever and once again was named First Team All-MIAA and won the Coaches Award and Team MVP.

Buchanan holds the Adrian College single-game goal record with five and upon graduation had the most goals in a season with 14 in 1990. She currently ranks third all-time in school history with 33 goals and 85 points.

Buchanan received her bachelor’s degree in 1994 in education and later earned a master’s degree in education/administration from Saginaw Valley State University. He currently resides in Clawson, Michigan and is an assistant principal in the Troy School District at Smith Middle School.

Keith Bozyk (Baseball)

Keith Bozyk was one of the more talented pitchers to ever wear a Bulldog baseball jersey. Bozyk was a key component of the baseball team’s first-ever MIAA Championship in 1993 and was named the MIAA MVP and First Team All-MIAA. In that 1993 season, Bozyk posted a 1.34 ERA which still stands as the top mark in school history. Bozyk also garnered Second Team All-MIAA honors in 1994.

Bozyk left Adrian College with 21 wins which ranks fourth in school history and also had eight saves which ranks second. He threw 270 2/3 innings which ranks second at Adrian College and accumulated 194 strikeouts which sits fourth in the record books. After graduation, he went on to play two years of semi-professional baseball in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Bozyk attended Detroit Catholic Central High School and currently resides in Adrian where he works for Gray Institute as Chief Operating Officer. He has been active in the community as a board member of Adrian Little League Baseball and Softball. He also has been a Lookouts Softball coach and youth hockey coach. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1994 in exercise science and later earned a master’s degree in rehabilitative science from Clarion University. He and his wife, Tiffany, have two children – Kayla and Cameron.

Hollis Edwards (Men’s Basketball)

Hollis Edwards quickly made a name for himself at Adrian College after spending time in the junior college ranks. Edwards was able to score 1,169 points in his Adrian career in just two and a half seasons with the team. He currently ranks 15th in school history in points and during his senior season led the MIAA in scoring at 17.9 points per game. He earned First Team All-MIAA honors in 1997 and 1998 and also was known as a great defender being named the team’s MVP in that area.

Edwards became the first player to earn NABC Second Team All-Great Lakes Region honors in the 1997-98 season and while leading the MIAA in scoring he also ranked third in three-point shooting at 45.7 percent, seventh in free throw shooting at 73.9 percent and ranked fourth in steals with 2.3 per contest.

Edwards attended Elston High School in Michigan City, Indiana and currently resides in the Knoxville, Tennessee area where he works as a Therapeutic Specialist. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1998 and later earned his MBA from Keller Graduate School. He and his wife, Mary, a 1997 Adrian College graduate have three children – Nina Simone, Hollis II and Cahlib.

Sarah Moulik (Women’s Soccer)

Sarah Moulik made a name for herself on the soccer field while at Adrian College. Moulik was a standout goalkeeper for the Bulldogs who played 5,225 minutes in net from 1999 through 2002. She was named Second Team All-MIAA as a freshman after compiling a 1.97 goals-against average with 135 saves. She followed that up as a sophomore by being named First Team All-Conference making 248 saves during the season.

Moulik once again was named First Team All-MIAA as a senior in 2002 and sported a 1.09 goals-against average and made 151 saves leading the league in both categories. She was named team captain all four years and also played basketball during her time at Adrian College. She won the Senior Female Athlete of the Year Award in 2003 and still ranks second all-time at AC in saves with 557.

Moulik is still a very active person as she enjoys hiking and backpacking. She has run the Detroit Marathon in 2005 and completed the Tough Mudder in 2012 and 2013. Moulik attended Troy Athens High School and currently resides in Commerce Township, Michigan where she is a police officer with the City of Novi. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 2003 in criminal justice and biology.

Sarah Vincke (Women’s Basketball)

Sarah Vincke is one of the most prolific scorers in the history of Adrian College women’s basketball. Vincke was a dynamic outside shooter and finished her career as the all-time leading three-point specialist with 212 makes in 596 attempts for a 35.6 percentage. She ended her career with 1,416 points which ranks third-most in school history and also ranks third in free throw makes (276) and fifth in field goals made (464).

Vincke was named First Team All-MIAA as a sophomore and senior and served as team captain for three years. She still holds the single-game school record with nine three-pointers made against Bluffton in December 2000. During her senior season, Vincke ranked second in the MIAA in scoring with 15.5 points per game and also ranked third in three-point percentage (39.8) and free throw percentage (82.6).

Vincke attended New Lothrop High School and currently resides in Swartz Creek, Michigan with her husband Christopher. She works at Hurley Medical Center in Flint in Pediatric Intensive Care. Vincke earned her bachelor’s degree in 2003 and later got her master’s degree from Central Michigan University in physician assistant studies.

Dale Sprankle (Athletic Director and Coach)

Dale Sprankle was a pioneer in athletics at Adrian College serving as athletic director and coach from 1923 to 1936. Sprankle was the head coach of football, basketball, cross country, track and field, and baseball for the Bulldogs during his tenure.

As a football coach, Sprankle had success in three different years in particular. His 1924 squad finished 6-1-2 and the following year compiled a 6-3 record. He had his most wins as a football coach during the 1935 campaign going 7-3. On the hardwood, Sprankle enjoyed six winning seasons including a 15-4 record in 1927-28 and a 16-3 mark in 1930-31.

After his time at Adrian, Sprankle moved on to Albion College and over the course of his 35-year career at both institutions won 23 MIAA conference championships. Sprankle attended Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio and was a three-sport star in football, basketball and baseball. Sprankle had an impact on hundreds of student-athletes over the years including former Adrian College president John Dawson, whom he coached in football. Sprankle was born in Beach City, Ohio on August 4, 1898 and passed away on November 11, 1963.
