This spring Emily Buffington begins her first season as the Acrobatics & Tumbling coach at Adrian College.
In high school, Buffington was a member of the National Honor Society and was inducted during her first year of eligibility. Buffington would graduate in the top 12% of her high school class.Â
Coach Buffington would earn her undergrad from East Texas Baptist University. Buffington would graduate with Cum Laude honors while earning her BS in Kinesiology Wellness Management/Minor in Psychology. At East Texas Baptist University, Buffington was involved in PSI Gamma Honor Society, PI Gamma Mu Honor Society, and served as a Thrive Program Mentor. Coach Buffington was a member of the inaugural Acrobatics & Tumbling Team during the 2018-19 season as a Base/Tumbler for ETBU. As a Base/Tumbler, Buffington was involved in compulsory pyramid, toss, & tumbling, pyramid, and team events. Additionally, Buffington participated in Sync. & Open Toss heat and Trio/Quad Tumbling heats. As a member of the ETBU Acro team, Buffington would be selected to the NCTA All-Academic Team during her three years of athletics.   Â
Buffington graduated with a Masters in Business Administration at King University during the 2021-2022 school year with a 3.7 cumulative GPA. During her time at King University (DII), Buffington was a Graduate Assistant for the Acrobatics & Tumbling Team. As the GA, coach Buffington played a key role in leading the Acrobatics & Tumbling Team to a 8-2 record and a third place finish during the 2021-22 season.Â

During her time as a gymnast, Buffington earned many honors including: Level 7 State Floor Champion, Level 7 Region 3 Vault & Bars Champion, Level 7 Region 3 All-Around Runner-up, Level 8 Region 3 Bars Champion, Level 8 Region 3 Floor Runner-Up, Top 100 in the nation on Vault for Level 7 (Ranked #2 score of 9.95), and Top 100 in the nation in the All-Around for Level 7.
In high school, Buffington was a 2x high school varsity cheer member and a 2x NCA All-American.Â
Coach Buffington would eventually work for the NCA as a staff member for 5 years. In her first year as an NCA staff member, Buffington would go on to win the NCA Staff Rookie Of The Year honor.  Â
