Gunner Rainey '21 enters his fourth season on the NCAA Baseball coaching staff in 2025-26, working with all the Bulldog hitters and individually coaching the catchers. He is also the recruiting coordinator and handles all day to day operations for the program.

Rainey, was one of the best ever to play for the Black and Gold. In his Bulldog career, Rainey was named All-Region in 2019 and 2021 by D3Baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). He was a 3-time All-MIAA selection and back-to-back MIAA Position Player of the Year. He received the Gold Glove Award at catcher by Rawlings in 2021 and was an All-American by D3Baseball.com and the ABCA. With a stellar performance in the 2021 DIII College World Series, Gunner was named to the World Series All-Tournament Team. In 2021, he also was named Academic All-District First Team for District 6.

In his MIAA career he won the MIAA Batting Titles in 2019 (.455 avg) and 2021 (.506 avg). His .506 average in 2021 in the MIAA stands as the best batting average in league history. He is the career record holder in the MIAA for most hits in career (166), second in career at bats (391), third in doubles (35), fourth in RBIs (91), fourth in total bases (208). Rainey graduated from Adrian in 2021.

When his playing career was done, Rainey played professionally in the USPBL and the Frontier League before retiring and coming back to coach at Adrian.
