Matt Sutton enters his second season as assistant coach for the Bulldogs. Sutton will specialize in working with distance runners.

Sutton is a 2017 graduate of Georgia College where he was a member of the cross country team from 2013-2017. Matt graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in business administration. Sutton went on to graduate school where he received his master's degree in human performance. He is also a 2-time member of the Peach Belt Conference All-Sportsmanship Team (2015 and 2017).

Matt's coaching experience started in the fall of 2017 where he served as a volunteer assistant coach at Baldwin High School. He also served as a volunteer assistant of the Baldwin Blazers AAU/USATF Junior Track and Field team during the summer of 2019.

Sutton started his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant Georgia College for the 2018 season. Starting in January of 2019, Matt stepped in as the interim head coach for Georgia College's program. During that time Matt's men's and women's teams generated a team GPA above 3.25. Matt handled all recruiting efforts along with developing practice plans and managing team operations. In 2019 Sutton coached one DII Southeast All-Region athlete.

Matt also received a Track and Field Technical certification from the USTFCCCA.
