Zachary Mizell began coaching at Adrian in the fall of 2023.
Mizell graduated from Life University with a Bachelor’s degree in 2021 followed by a Master’s Degree in 2023 from Concordia University in Irvine, California. Prior to Life, Mizell studied International Business at Arkansas State University.
Mizell was a member of the Life University men’s rugby team where the team went on to win the USA Rugby Division 1 Men’s National Championship in 2019. At Arkansas State, he was an All-American during a tour in Ireland and New Zealand. He was also a 7’s All-American and RugbyTown Champion, and National All-Star Champion. In 2012, Arkansas State won the Division 1 Collegiate 7’s National Championship where Mizell went on to win Most Valuable Player.
Mizell began coaching at the University of Texas at Austin in 2017 where he served as the Director of Rugby and head coach. He then became an assistant coach and graduate assistant for Life University. He has also had a career in Major League Rugby where he played for Austin, Columbus, and San Diego.
Mizell holds a certification as a Level 300 USA Rugby Coach. He also served as a volunteer coach for USA Rugby South, Alliance Rugby, Georgia U19, and Atlanta Youth Rugby. In his first season as head coach of the Bulldogs, Mizell was named the Midwest Rugby Conference Coach of the Year.
