Ethan McLaughlin is from Penticton, British Columbia, Canada and played junior hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League, Alberta Junior Hockey League, and the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League before he joined the Adrian College MD1 Bulldogs in 2021.

McLaughlin was named to the GLCHL All-Rookie Team in 2022 and was a member of the Adrian Bulldogs' defensive core who helped capture the ACHA National Championship in 2024. After the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, McLaughlin was named the team's Associate Captain for the 2024-25 season.

In his Senior season, McLaughlin put together a break-out year, being leaned on as one of the team's top defenseman and piling up over a point-per-game production rate on the backend, establishing career-highs in goals, assists, and points. McLaughlin's efforts earned GL6 All-Conference First Team and ACHA All-American Honorable Mention recognitions as he helped the Bulldogs back to the National Championship game for the third straight campaign in 2025.

Ethan, who his teammates know as "Mac" or "E", has a wonderful taste in music and loves thrifting and vintage clothing. He studies Secondary Education, with a specialization in Social Studies, and graduated in the spring of 2025. The Canadian has also contributed his time to the Adrian College Special Olympics organization as their Vice President and SAAC Coordinator.

McLaughlin will be returning to the MD1 Bulldogs for his Fifth Year in 2025-2026.
