Adam Phillips is in his second season asĀ the Adrian College Men's NCAA Hockey Head Coach, and his fifthĀ overall with the program.

In his first season as head coach of the Bulldogs, Phillips compiled a 18-10-1 record and made a trip to the NCHA Harris Cup Finals. Adrian finished the season as the No. 11 ranked team in the country according to the NCAA Percentage Index (NPI).

Phillips comes backĀ toĀ Adrian after serving as an Assistant Coach during the 2021-22 seasonĀ on then head coach, Adam Krug's staff. Phillips helped the Men's NCAA Hockey team clinch the 2022 Division III National ChampionshipĀ and was an assistant on the staff that finished as Runner-Ups in 2023. In 2019-20, Phillips wasĀ as anĀ assistant coach for theĀ Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League. After making his coaching debut there, he was elevated to interim head coach mid-season and spent the second half of the year leading the Jacks. Before returning to Adrian in the Fall of 2024, PhillipsĀ served as the Assistant to the Head Coach at Miami-Ohio University (NCAA DI) for a season. At Miami, Phillips worked with the video and analytics team which contributed to in-game decision making. Phillips also facilitated skills sessions with players and assisted with practice planning and individual player video sessions.

Phillips began his coaching career with a wealth of professional playing experience after spending five seasons as a defenseman in the ECHL. Before that, he spent four years playing NCAA Division I Hockey at the University of Massachusetts where he logged 23 goals and 27 assists for the Minutemen.

After his 124-game career at U-Mass, Phillips signed anĀ American Hockey League contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers before starting his ECHL stint with theĀ Stockton Thunder in 2014-15, when he had 9+18=27 scoring totals in 67 contests. He also skated for theĀ Kalamazoo Wings, Norfolk Admirals, Indy Fuel, Orlando Solar Bears and Tulsa Oilers. Phillips also attended NHL Development Camps with the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, and the Minnesota Wild throughout his professional playing career.

While playing, Phillips developed his coaching skills during the off-seasons as a member of Total Package Hockey's staff where he worked with Michigan's elite hockey players. At the same time, Phillips led the summer and fall season practices for Brother Rice High School and provided private skill development lessons.

Phillips, a native of Farmington Hills, launched his playing career in Michigan playing for several AAA hockey teams before joining the Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. Phillips was drafted by the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League and suited up for the team for 47 games during the 2009-10 season. Phillips stayed in the USHL for only one season before moving on to play at U-Mass.

Phillips receivedĀ his bachelor's degree in psychology from U-Mass in 2014.
