That season the team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and earned two All-American selections.

After Adrian, McGowan went on to coach at RIT as a Division I assistant. She served as the primary assistant coach and worked with the defense from 2018-20. At RIT, she coached a CHA Conference Freshman of the Year, three CHA Rookies of the Week, and 17 CHA All-Academic honorees.

After her time at RIT, she spent time as a Program Coordinator for USA Hockey Arena before serving as a Portfolio Manager of Hockey for Play Hockey. She continued to coach hockey as assistant coach of the Belle Tire Girls 19U hockey team, and head coach of the Saint Clair Shores 10U hockey team and the Belle Tire Girls 12U hockey team.
