Sam Pratt is starting his first season with Adrian College Rowing.
Growing up in London, England, Pratt began his rowing career his freshman year of High School at Hampton School. During his sophomore season, he won silver medals in both the J16 Men’s 8+ and the J16 Men’s 4-. In the same year, he rowed at the Henley Royal Regatta and went on to represent Great Britain at the Under 16’s GB v France match race, where he won a gold medal in the men’s eight. He rowed in Hampton School’s first eight in both his junior and senior year. In the summer after graduating high school, Pratt attained the British Rowing level 2 coaching certification.
Pratt graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in Philosophy in 2019, where he rowed all four years, receiving a varsity letter every season. In the summer of 2017, he rowed at the Henley Royal Regatta in the Wyfold Challenge Cup, representing the Pioneer Valley Riverfront Club. The following summer, he raced in the United States 4- at the University World Championships in Shanghai. Pratt was elected co-captain of Wesleyan Crew his senior year by his teammates.
Having graduated, Pratt remained at Wesleyan as Assistant Coach until 2021, helping to guide the team through the Covid pandemic and an abbreviated Spring 2021 racing season.
During the summer of 2021, he was Head Coach for the Blood Street Sculls junior learn to row program. He also led the Blood Street competitive boys to a silver medal in the quad, and a gold in the eight at the Narragansett Sweeps and Sculls Regatta at the end of the summer.
“I am incredibly excited and honored to be entrusted with Adrian Rowing’s continued growth,” said Pratt “I am fortunate to be able to guide such passionate and driven young men and women through this stage of their careers as students, athletes, and people.”
