Christon Calley is back for his fifth year as a member of theAdrian College football coaching staff. Calley will work again withthe defensive backs and will also share duties as the co-defensivecoordinator for the first time. He was a standout cornerback forthe Bulldogs and also excelled on the track at Adrian College.
In 2012, the Bulldogs had one of the best secondary's in schoolhistory based on the numbers. Adrian allowed just one passingtouchdown in conference play and ranked first in the MIAA and 14thin NCAA Division III in pass defense (150.55 yards per game). Inaddition, the team led the MIAA and were 34th nationally in passefficiency defense (107.53). The defensive backs recorded threeinterceptions during league action in 2012.
In 2011, the Bulldogs had one of the top secondary's in the MIAAand the country. Calley mentored First Team All-MIAA selectionBryan Garbarino and Second Team All-MIAA pick Keman Jacobs. He alsocoached three-year letterman Chris Cook. Adrian ranked seventhnationally and first in the MIAA in pass efficiency defense(89.28). In addition, Adrian ranked 16th nationally and first inthe MIAA in scoring defense (14.2 points per game). The passdefense for Adrian ranked 14th nationally and first in the MIAAallowing 138.2 yards per contest through the air.
Calley spent the 2010 season coaching wide receivers at theUniversity of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He helped produceAll-American Jared Jenkins as well as two other Pointers whoreceived First Team All-WIAC honors.
Calley was a member of the MIAA champion 4x100 meter relay teamin 2006-2008 and was named First Team All-MIAA in 2007 and 2008. Hebroke the school record in the 200 meters and also in the 4x100meter relay during his time at Adrian. Calley was the MIAA 400meter champion in 2008 and was also named Male Track Athlete of theYear in the MIAA.
On the football field, Calley started all 10 games as a juniorand senior. He recorded 20 tackles, three interceptions and fivepass breakups as a junior and followed that with 22 tackles, oneinterception and eight pass breakups as a senior. He was namedFirst Team All-MIAA as a senior.
He graduated in 2009 from Adrian College with a bachelor of artsin international business.
