Charlie Edwards is entering his fourth season as the head men’s soccer coach at Adrian College.
Edwards led the 2016 Bulldogs to new heights as the team finished the season with an 11-8 overall record--the most wins in program history--and a 9-5 conference mark that was good enough for a third-place finish in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings. The team’s nine conference wins were also the most in program history.
AT ADRIAN
• Coached five total All-MIAA selections including four selections from the 2016 season--First team: Brandon Katona & Chris Stanhope; Second team: Sean Cain & Tad Davis--and one from the 2014 season, Nick Minshall (2nd team).
• Snapped the 37 regular season MIAA game unbeaten streak by #18 Calvin in a 1-0 win on Oct. 8, 2016.
• Led the team to the MIAA tournament after a third-place finish in the conference standings.
Prior to Adrian
• Spent three seasons as an assistant coach for NCAA Division I Bowling Green State University. Edwards assisted the Falcons defense that only allowed 0.89 goals per game for the 2013 season. The team also was given for the fourth straight year an NSCAA All-Academic Award for having a team grade-point average over 3.0. In addition, Brandon Silva was also named an Academic All-American.
• Spent 2010 as a volunteer assistant for the University of Dayton Flyers men’s soccer program, working primarily with goalkeepers. Edwards also assisted with administrative duties and travel arrangements for the squad as well as helping plan camps and manage the recruiting database. Dayton keeper, Tyler Picard, finished 2010 being named to the All-Atlantic 10-second team after completing eight shutouts and allowing an average of 0.79 goals a game.
• Worked with the University of Central Florida’s five goalkeepers prior to taking the volunteer position at Dayton.
• Graduated from the University of Louisville in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in sports administration. Edwards was a two-year starter for the Cardinals including the 2007 team that advanced to the semifinal round of the Big East Tournament and the second round of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. He was a member of the conference’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll in both 2006 and 2007.

• USSF National “D” coaching license including an NSCAA Goalkeeping I, II and III Diploma.
• Member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the United States Soccer Federation.
